Mrs. Shannon Blankenburg, Second Grade

Shannon Blankenburg’s classroom learning environment promotes deeper learning, engaged hearts and minds, and a sense of family. She was inspired by her first grade teacher to pursue the career of education and implements the same welcoming atmosphere in her classroom. Her students know that they are important and are valued members of the school and community.

Mrs. Blankenburg graduated from Illinois State University with a B.A. degree in Education and continues to attend numerous professional seminars to further her development as a teacher. Mrs. Blankenburg has taught three grade levels during her tenure of teaching: Kindergarten, First, and Second Grades. Additionally, she taught Kindergarten at the Andrews Academy location at the inception of her career for seven years before joining the AALSL team. Mrs. Blankenburg enjoyed teaching each grade level for many reasons, but Second Grade is her favorite and she can’t imagine teaching a more special and unique age group.

Andrews Academy is the perfect fit for a teacher like Mrs. Blankenburg as it aligns with her personal beliefs about an individualized approach to teaching. It has been her experience that children are empowered and learn best through meaningful, relatable projects of high interest which allow them to demonstrate their unique abilities and talents.
