A St. Louis native, who lives on the same street she grew up on, Sally has been teaching for 25 years, half of which has been at Andrews Academy. Holding a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood, she finds Third Grade to be a unique age in which to teach as it is the "gateway" to the upper school. An amazing time period of marked growth, both in personal responsibility, and across the intelligences, that propels students from being lower elementary to completing the year demonstrating the attributes of an upper school student.
During her tenure as an educator, Sally has served on an ISACS accreditation team, was awarded an Independent Schools of St. Louis (ISSL) Teacher of Distinction grant, and received an Emerson Excellence In Teaching Award. She taught First Grade at Rohan Woods before coming to Andrews Academy. Teaching was a natural profession for Sally to pursue, as she was raised by parents who were both high school English teachers.
Sally has two sons who keep her busy at home in Glendale with high school and college functions to attend to. She enjoys biking, landscaping, and working out. During the summers, Sally enjoys spending as much time as possible at her family cottage on Bois Blanc Island in Michigan where her boys are the seventh generation of the family to experience life on an island.
